How we vet roofing contractors

localroof.org is an independent directory. We don’t sell placement and listings aren’t paid — our only job is to help North Atlanta homeowners find a roofer they can trust, especially after a storm when out-of-town “storm-chaser” crews flood the area.

What we check

Every published listing is screened on a few practical signals:

LicensingWe surface licensed, locally-operating contractors and flag generic or out-of-area entries for review.

ReviewsWe pull each contractor’s Google rating and review count so you can weigh real local reputation, not marketing.

Specialty fitWe capture roof systems, materials, storm-restoration and insurance-claim support so you can match the job to the crew.

FreshnessRatings and details refresh automatically, so what you see reflects the contractor’s current standing — not a stale snapshot.

What we remove

We continuously de-duplicate listings, retire businesses that aren’t actually roofers (e.g. pure painting or gutter companies), and pull ratings that don’t cleanly match a single verified business. When in doubt, we’d rather show no rating than a wrong one.

What we don’t do

We don’t accept payment for ranking, we don’t generate fake reviews, and we don’t scrape or resell photos. Business photos and maps shown here come from Google and are attributed accordingly.
